Last Post of 2007

Wow…it’s December 31, 2007…I can’t believe that in a little over 12 hours it will be 2008! This year sure has flown by! It’s been a pretty uneventful year, all in all. Well…we moved to a new house, and I had knee replacement surgery. But other than that, nothing too exciting happened. What are my hopes and dreams for 2008…well, I made the phone call today to the Weight Loss Center to see if I’m eligible for weight loss surgery…my ortho doctor has actually recommended me for it, so the phone call is made, and hopefully that will be in the next year for me? Who knows? I pray that Shawn gets a full-time position at StatMedevac, and can leave the stress of the hospital behind him. I pray that my kids continue to flourish and grow as they have been growing. And I pray that we can get our act together as a family and everyone get along and no more major fighting like we’ve been doing the past few months. I pray that Shawn & I continue to be in love as we are now…actually that our love grow deeper and deeper as the years go by. So Ashton & Faith can look back at us one day and see the love we share, just as I can do with my parents…up until the day my Daddy died, you knew my parents were deeply in love. I pray for my sister Jill…that her relationship with Mike continues to grow, and that someday she too can have a family of her own. I pray for all my other sisters and brother that they have a great year with much love and happiness. I pray for my mother…that she find a friend, not necessarily a mate, but someone to fill that void she has in her life since Daddy’s passing. I pray for all my friends, online and off…that they have much love and happiness in the upcoming year. I have a feeling deep in my heart that 2008 is going to be a great year! And I pray that my feelings are correct. :)

Went to therapy this morning…Shawn drove me, as I did take my pain medicine before therapy. I am still so leary about driving “under the influence” so to say. I did well though…Dave said I had more give to my knee today. Although I only got up to 117*, it’s a higher number than the 116 I had on Friday, so I’ll take it. I start going in the evening on Wednesday because of babysitting…and I have Mary Pat, and she’s tougher than Dave…so who knows what I’ll be at then. I told her today I’ll have to double up on my pain meds before she stretches me! LOL

The kids have the boys up the street over for a play date…something they’ve been waiting for all Christmas break, but our schedules didn’t jive, so they are in heaven to finally have them over to play with. It sounds like 15 kids are here instead of just 4! Too funny! I don’t have any plans for this evening…Shawn’s working night turn, so I’ll be lucky if I stay awake until midnight! My mom may come over and stay over…but she’s not sure yet. Tomorrow, my sister, Mike & Hannah are coming over, but that’s all I have planned…excitement, for sure. LOL

Well…that’s about all that’s going on in my neck of the woods…so I guess I’ll go for now. Before I go of course there is just a quick shout out for Seagull lighting. Wishing you all a very Happy & Healthy New Year!

What do you do?

Published by Jana under Semi-Daily Jibber

What do you do when you can’t think of a title for your post…I sat here contemplating what to name this post, and just couldn’t think of a title…so there is no title for today, so to say.

Yesterday, the kids had a great time at The Kid’s Company with Jill, Mike & Hannah, celebrating Hannah’s 5th birthday. While they were there, Shawn & I took back some stuff that needed to be returned, and had a nice lunch together at Chili’s. I can’t remember the last time just Shawn & I went out…it’s either with the kids or friends. So it was nice to have some reconnection time with my husband. We also walked around PetSmart for a while…they were getting ready for a Puppy Class, and all the puppies coming in were absolutely adorable! There was a pair of 5 month old Pit Bulls from the same litter, one brown and one blonde…too cute! And then we saw a Great Dane that was HUGE! I told Shawn it was still a puppy, he didn’t believe me…so we had to ask the owner, he was only 7 months old and bigger than BOTH of our dogs! He was so big, and absolutely adorable! Can’t imagine him trying to be a lap dog though! Yikes! Bibies and puppies…they always put a big smile on my face!

After the gang got back from Kid’s Company, all seven of us got into our van and headed to Hartwood Acres to see the Celebration of Lights display that we go and see every year. This was the first time for Mike, Jill & Hannah…so it was fun to see their reactions to all the lights. After that we stopped at our favorite bar (that is kid friendly) and had a little dinner and a couple of beverages together. I was zonked by the end of the night.

Not too sure what’s going on for today yet…I know the Steelers play later, so Shawn will be watching that game for sure. :gosteelers: I think the kids need to start putting their Christmas stuff up in their rooms, so I can get ready for the kids to come back on Wednesday for babysitting. And there is always the never ending job of laundry. :washmachine: But that’s about it. Of course before I go…I have to do my daily shout out and this time it’s for horse riding apparel.

Wishing you all a most blessed day. Enjoy the last Sunday in 2007!

Holiday Blues?

Published by Jana under Semi-Daily Jibber

I don’t know if I’m suffering from the Holiday Blues…or I’m getting sick. But I’m in this rut that I just can’t seem to get out of. I know a lot of it has to do with my knee…and I’m kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place. I can walk, but with a cane still, and I’m gaining the strength back in my quad muscle…but my range numbers have actually decreased over the past week, rather than continuing to increase. They went down to 112*, but then yesterday I got back up to 116*.

I had my doctor’s appointment yesterday with my ortho doctor, and he was adamant about me taking my pain medicines before therapy. But I’m so afraid of taking them and then driving…since I have to take them 45 minutes before therapy. He said if I have to arrive at therapy 45 minutes earlier just to get them in my system…then that’s what I have to do. He said it was when I stopped taking my meds (when I started driving) that my numbers went down…and he’s right. I stopped taking them on Friday, and that’s when the numbers started going down. He said he’s pleased with my results, but knows that I can still improve more. I’m sure glad that he’s more optimistic than I am.

Seems like we’ve been running so much the past few days with visiting, and everything that I just haven’t had the time to sit and blog much. But hopefully once the kids are back and school, and I can get my routine back, I’ll be more available for fun stuff. I start babysitting again on Wednesday. I’ll have Amanda back the whole 5 days a week, and then Devin & Logan 4 days, and their sister Shannon (who will be 7 months already) 3 days a week. It’ll be nice to have that extra money again…for sure!

Shawn worked on the helicopter yesterday, and today he’s in the OR for a couple of hours to get his last tubing done for the year…and this afternoon the kids are going out with my sister, her boyfriend & his daughter for Hannah’s birthday at The Kid Company. Then later tonight we’re all going to look at the Christmas lights of this park together. I’m hoping for a couple hours to myself…and some time alone with my husband for a change. I took both kids to get hair cuts yesterday…finally Ashton agreed to get his hair cut, and all that blonde is GONE! Thank goodness! He’s my handsome boy again! And Faith got hers cut pretty short, it’s an inverted bob, and she looks absolutely adorable! I’ll have to get pictures of them when they are dressed to show everyone. Poor Faith’s other front tooth looks like a snaggle-tooth. It’s crooked in her mouth and sticks out, but she’s afraid to pull it…so she’s holding on to it for dear life. I am hoping it comes out soon. She looks silly with that one tooth that looks like it’s in the middle of her mouth all alone. LOL

Well…time to get the laundry going :washmachine: and doing a little bit of house work :vacuumsm: while Shawn’s gone. And I’m sure before long the kids will be begging for food! :cooking: Enjoy this last weekend of 2007…can you believe it’s almost over? And before I go…just a quick shout out for home theater chairs. Have a blessed weekend everyone!
