Busy as a Bee…

Published by Jana under Semi-Daily Jibber

Wow, I can’t believe that I’ve not blogged in so long…here I thought I had all this time, and then days and weeks go by and there wasn’t any time blogging. :) But things have been great…well, somewhat. LOL

The kids are all situated in school, and loving 5th and 3rd grade. I can’t believe they are getting so old! We’re now into the 3rd week of school…and that’s when all things change!

We went to friends on Sunday for a cook out and Ashton was running around playing baseball in his bare feet. Stepped on something and got bit by a spider or bee or something. Hurt a little bit on Sunday, but come 24 hours on Monday (Labor Day) his foot swelled to five times it normal size! Shawn was working, so I took him down to the Quick Care at the hospital, and they confirmed what Shawn suspected…it was Cellilutitus, which is an infection of the tissue, which can be caused by a spider bite. Well, they put him on an antibiotic and steroid, told him to stay off of it for a few days, and gave him some crutches.

The next day I drove the kids to school and picked them up afterwards. Figured a 10 year old and crutches on the bus didn’t mix very well. Got home and thought all was fine…and he went in his room and started crying really hard. I went in to see what was the matter with him…only to find his OPPOSITE ankle swollen and black and blue. It looked like he had a baseball in his ankle!

I asked him what had happened and he informed me that he was trying to go down the stairs at recess to sit with his friends and was hopping on one leg…and on the last step he slipped and twisted his ankle! So again, Shawn wasn’t home…so I called to see what I should do, and off to the ER we went again!

Unfortunately…what I was hoping it wasn’t, it was. His ankle was broken! The growth plate in his ankle! Oh I could have died! So they splinted his leg and informed me to take him to an orthopedic doctor as soon as possible. Next day we went to the orthoped and he confirmed it…now my son has a bright red cast for the next 3 weeks!

That’s the big excitement in our lives right now…other than that, nothing too exciting is going on. Just getting back into the grove of being home, and getting the kids situated in school. Shawn’s been working, and Faith’s starting gymnastics next week! Can’t wait to see how that goes for her…she’s so excited!

Oh…I’m officially a Tastefully Simple consultant! So if you’re ever in the market for something, just let me know…you can view the website at http://tastefullysimple.com.

Now today I woke up with a horrible head cold…just keeping a good eye on it so it doesn’t turn into the “you know what” flu. :( It’s a scary, scary thing! There have been several cases of it confirmed in our schools already! :(

Well…not too much else going on, so I am gonna go rest my head in bed, but before I go, just a quick shout out for ipods. Have a blessed day everyone!

…until we blog again…
